电影用雄浑壮阔的场面为吸血鬼历史追本溯源，开放式结局也显示本作只是一个宏大工程的引擎，环球影业以元年为“怪物宇宙系列”开局，野心可鉴，可惜受投资力度导演能力所限，精彩程度中规中矩，整体表现平淡无奇，铁血硬汉，侠骨柔肠，而过多的儿女私情让电影节奏显得牵绊掣肘冗长凝滞。
